Implant Treatment

What is implant treatment and how is it done?

Implants are artificial tooth roots placed in the jawbone to replace natural teeth that have been lost for any reason. They are generally made of titanium, which is the most compatible with body tissues, the least allergic and the least reactive. The purpose of the implant is; Our aim is to provide patients with more comfortable use and better aesthetics in cases where there are missing teeth. implementation; It is done by surgical methods. Approximately 30-60 minutes. An implant (screw) is placed in the jaw with a long-term procedure performed under local anesthesia. Whether it is a single tooth, multiple teeth missing or complete edentulism, if there is a suitable amount of bone for implant placement, implants can be used in every case. In cases where there is not enough bone, advanced surgical techniques first ensure that a sufficient amount of bone is formed and implants can thus be applied.

Situations in which the implant is applied;

Situations where one or more teeth are missing and the teeth next to the gap in the jaw are not desired to be cut to make a bridge.
Situations where the tooth at the back of the jaw is missing and therefore a bridge cannot be made. Since most patients in this situation do not want to use a removable (removable / hooked) prosthesis, an implant can be used and the more useful implant-supported porcelain bridge can be used.
Situations where the use of total (palate) prosthesis in completely toothless jaws is not possible or is not desired by the patient. In this case, one or more implants are placed in each jaw, depending on the condition of the bone, and various types of prostheses are made on these implants.

Treatment stages for placing implants
Implant treatments consist of three stages. Surgery phase, recovery phase and superstructure phase. After the implants are placed surgically, healing and bone formation around the implant are expected to take approximately 2 months for implants applied to the lower jaw and 3 to 4 months for implants applied to the upper jaw. This waiting period is the time required for the implant to biologically fuse with the jawbone, called “osteointegration”. These periods may vary between short and long periods, such as 1.5 months to 6-10 months, depending on the type of surgery, bone powder and living bone addition and differentiation of advanced surgical methods, and the surface characteristics of the implants used.

Will I have pain when placing the implant?
Dental implants are placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia. For this reason, there is no pain during the operation as the operation area is numb. You may feel a slight pain 3-4 hours after the operation, when the anesthesia wears off. While this level of pain may vary from person to person, it is not unbearable. In order to reduce these pains, the dentists of Mustafa Tuncer Dental Clinic will advise you in writing with a prescription and a list of things to do after the operation.

Is implant treatment expensive?
The fact that all the materials used are special and the need for high technology for the production of quality implants determines the price of the treatment. Since healthy teeth are not touched in the implant treatment, there will not be a big difference in price compared to another high-quality prosthesis that can be made instead of the implant. In fact, considering that implant treatment has a longer life, implant treatment will become cheaper over time compared to other options. That’s why implant treatment has become a part of dental treatments for Trabzon dentist UĞUR MIHCIOĞLU.
